Consideration of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues in our investment policy
The Trustee believes that investors should have regard to good corporate governance and should avoid investments which fail to properly manage environmental and social risks. Our investment managers take many factors into account when they make an investment. These factors may include ESG to the extent that those issues affect the risk and return characteristics of those investments.
The Trustee encourages the fund’s investment consultant and all the fund’s investment managers to integrate consideration of these issues into their investment analysis and decision-making processes in relation to the investments they manage on behalf of the fund.
AGEST Super requires its investment managers to report on how they integrate ESG into their investment decisions. The fund also requires its listed equity managers to report on how they exercise voting rights.
The United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI)
In 2010 AGEST Super became a signatory to the UNPRI. This is an important part of our commitment to investing responsibly. The principles were developed to provide a framework for the investment community to achieve better long-term returns and more sustainable markets by considering ESG issues in their investment decision making. AGEST Super is currently working towards implementing the principles. More information about the principles is available at www.unpri.org.
Australian Council of Superannuation Investors (ACSI)
AGEST Super is a member of ACSI, the peak corporate governance body for institutional investors in Australia. More information about ACSI is available at
